Challenge

Renters Marty and Allison were having concerns with a musty smell coming from their finished basement. They quickly contacted their landlord to have resolve the problem. When Aj was looking around the basement, he found that one of the pipes had been leaking, causing mold to grow, damage to the walls, and created the musty smell. After fixing the pipe, he reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems to have the damaged walls repaired and a waterproofing system installed to prevent future water damage.

Solution

Mike Banks, design specialist, suggested that the wall be completely removed and replaced with EverLast Wall Panels. EverLast panels are durable and waterproof, preventing warping and rotting and mold growth if a pipe or leaking foundation were to become present in the future. EverLast Wall Panels also offer an insulation rating of R-13, reducing energy costs for the home. To address future leaks and pipe failures, a waterproofing system was installed. WaterGuard was installed along the perimeter of the foundation floor and wall joint to collect water that seeps in under the foundation and from the walls. Once collected it will be redirected to the TripleSafe where it will be properly discharged from the home. Having a dry basement helps prevent mold growth, reducing the musty smell that once lingered in the home.
