Challenge

City Hall in Wapello, Iowa were having concerns with their sinking sidewalks in the downtown area. The sidewalks were posing more tripping hazards rather than safe areas to walk for the residents in the town. High concerns and issues arose when the discussion of re-pouring the concrete sidewalks: too time consuming, very costly, not it the budget. They had to think of a solution and it needed to be accommodated quickly. When City Hall reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems, they quickly found relief and relaxation.

Solution

It was proposed to the City of Wapello to have the sidewalks leveled with PolyLevel. PolyLevel is a concrete lifting and level solution that isn’t costly or time consuming. The lightweight material weighs less than 4 pounds per cubic foot while using a powerful lifting force of 2,000 – 4,000 pounds per square foot. Once PolyLevel is injected under the concrete, voids are filled and the polymers react to lift, level, and stabilize the slabs. The quick reaction time of the PolyLevel allows for precise and accurate lifting so the sidewalk will not be under- or over-lifted, dramatically reducing tripping hazards for pedestrians. PolyLevel is also waterproof so it will not washout over time and will not rot or deteriorate. PolyLevel also has a quick cure time that allows for injected areas to be accessed within minutes, making it ideal to install in a business area. City Hall of Wapello, Iowa once again have safe sidewalks for their residents to access thanks to the help from MidAmerica Basement Systems.

Concrete Lifting and Leveling: PolyLEVEL

Areas have sunk next to parking stalls, leaving tripping hazards for residents of the city.
Unlevel sidewalks near businesses make it unsafe for customers to enter and leave the buildings.
Sewer lines and pipes were concerns with the injections of PolyLevel, but were assured that it would not be damaged due to the lightweight material.
After PolyLevel, sidewalks a level and safe for residents to walk on.
Shortly after injections, the area was accessible for all residents and customers.
Sewer lines and pipes stay intact, and the concrete is level all in one day.
