Challenge

Homeowners Rick and Michelle were noticing multiple cracks in their basement’s foundation. With these cracks came many issues with water leakage. They had tried themselves to fix the water issue by installing a dehumidifier, but every year, the cracks seemed to get larger and larger. More and more water would start leaking in, and the dehumidifier could not keep up with the water that was coming in.

Solution

Rick and Michelle had made the call to MidAmerica Basement Systems to help solve their water problem. Upon inspection, the team not only suggested a waterproofing system, but more importantly, proposed that they had their foundation repaired. The reason for the cracks expanding over the years was from the settlement of the home, and the cracks would only get worse, if the foundation was left untreated. The team got right to work to install a waterproofing system with WaterGuard and TripleSafe to help with the water seepage in the basement. Team members than installed Helical Piers to the foundation to help lift and level the home. Helical Piers are heavy-duty foundation brackets that are placed under the foundation footing to distribute the home’s weight evenly, and assist in placing the foundation back to its original position.
