Vicki was having issues with water seeping into her basement after heavy rains. She also had issues with her basement drain backing up, preventing water from flowing out of her basement. She contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems to have the problem resolved and finally have a dry basement. Mike has proposed installing a TripleSafe sump to account for the large amounts of water that would enter the basement during rains. LateralDrains were than installed from the basemen drain to the pump to prevent future back-ups. For the rest of the basement, WaterGuard was installed to collect and redirect the seeping water to the TripleSafe to be discharged back out of the home. Vicki now has a dry, and reliable waterproofing system in her basement.

Water now properly flows towards the sump pump to be discharged out to the basement, leaking the area dry.

The team sent an expert out to inspect the home and provide a free estimate within the same day. Excited about having these problems fixed, the team began the project.
To address water coming in from the perimeter, the team installed WaterGuard. WaterGuard is designed to drain wall leaks and rising ground water from the perimeter into the new SuperSump, which comes with special features that make it stand out among other sump pump systems such as a perforated and durable liner that allows ground water to drain into the unit, an airtight lid that allows water to drain into the unit but prevents water vapor to rise, and a WaterWatch alarm that will alert Amy if there are any problems.
The team constructed a discharge line that allowed water to be pumped to the LawnScape away from the home. To further protect Amy's basement during the cold winter months, the team installed IceGuard which is designed to eject water away from the foundation walls if a pipe freezes, preventing flooding.
MidAmerica has provided a better equipped basement for the rainy and cold season!
Due to concrete being porous, cold and damp, almost any and all flooring will become ruined and destroyed by the basement floor. Except for ThermalDry Floor Matting. ThermalDry Flooring was designed to be installed in the basement. The snap-together, peg-raised tiles allow for quick installation and allow for air/moisture movement under the flooring. The space between the floor tile and concrete floor does one of two things: prevents water/moisture from condensing under the tiles and creates a thermal break between the cold, hard concrete. The many different color and texture options are all water resistant so you never have to worry about your basement flooring becoming ruined by water leaks or seeping moisture.

A homeowner in Pekin, IL with a home built in the 1900s started to notice their home having some wear and tear. The walls have begun to bow inward and crack and the flooring has begun to sag and begin to rot. Knowing this was a bigger issue than what they could fix on their own, the homeowner searched the internet to come across a well-known industry in their area, MidAmerica Basement Systems and we were more than happy to help them out!
Your flooring can weaken and rot over time and cause the flooring to sag. Floor framing can be spanned too far out making the floor start to sag. Piers that have been installed with improper footings can sink. There could also be too much weight added to a floor system that is not designed to handle the load. There is a system that can be installed that would fix this issue, a SmarkJack floor support system. SmartJack is an adjustable steel pier that is designed to stop settling and raise your flooring back up to where it was. It is designed with an adjustable screw that can jack up the floor and can always be adjusted again in the future.
Having a SmartJack installed within the homeowner's home eliminated several worries this homeowner once had. Thanks to the MidAmerica Basement Systems Team this home is looking great! If you too are looking to have a wall stabilized or have your flooring no longer sag, or wanting to learn more about the other services we offer, do not hesitate to reach out to MidAmerica Basement Systems. Cracked foundation walls can cause a lot of problems. It can cause the wall to slowly start bowing inward over time and can leave the homeowner with a split wall and a larger issue to deal with. There is a solution to the problem and that is a PowerBrace System. A homeowner in Pekin, IL had a bowing wall that had a large crack running through the foundation wall. The crack has grown over time and we were more than happy to stop it in its tracks!
When there is limited access to or no access to the exterior foundation walls a PowerBrace is the best solution to stabilize and straighten walls. There could be no access to the exterior due to property lines, underground obstacles, or even landscaping that would not allow another system to be installed. A beam is installed against a foundation wall and bolted to the floor slab below and above to stop the wall from further bowing inward. It is positioned like this to keep the two forces equal allowing the wall to become straight over time and not bow inward. During dry periods, the PowerBrace can be tightened with the adjustable top bracket to allow the system to become straighter over time.
The wall is now permanently stabilized thanks to the MidAmerica Basement Systems Team. The homeowner now has one less worry when it comes to their once bowing basement wall. If you too are looking to have a cracked, bowing, foundation wall fixed, do not hesitate to reach out to MidAmerica Basement Systems. We would be more than happy to send a Design Specialist out to come to take a look at your foundation wall and give you a free, no-obligation estimate. Call us today!
