Having also experienced issues with a wet basement, he knows exactly how homeowners feel when they have similar issues.

Joe has received extensive installation and classroom training at our facilites in Davenport, IA, Seymour, CT and in Omaha, NE. He spent his first year with the company as a service techinician and after receiving additional training, Joe earned the esteemed title of “Certified System Design Specialist”.
Before starting in the work force, Joe attended St Norbert College in De Pere, WI, where he studied business and played football for 2 years. He then transferred to Illinois State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management. Joe has worked in customer service and sales his entire career.
Joe enjoys meeting with homeowners, contractors, property managers and real estate professionals, helping them solve their damp, smelly basement and crawlspace problems, fixing foundation problems, and designing basement finishing projects. During Joe’s free time you will find him spending time with his wife, Michelle, children, Owen and Aubrey, and their dog, Piper. He enjoys playing golf, watching sports with family and friends, and raising awareness for NKH and research funds for the NKH program at the University of Notre Dame.

Rachel recently had a contractor install jack posts to help support her sinking floors, but quickly realized that they were not installed properly. The jacks that had been installed couldn’t handle the weight of the home, and were beginning to buckle under the pressure, presenting the initial issue Rachel had started with, sinking floors. MidAmerica Basement Systems’ sales rep., Joe, had suggested installing a SmartJack system. SmartJack systems focus on the main issue of the problem, the failing foundation soils underneath. Holes are dug and filled with concrete or tightly-compacted crushed stone, providing the proper stabilization for the weight of the home.

He suggested that a PowerBrace system be installed to permanently stabilized the wall and prevent any future worsening. The PowerBraces also offer the option of tightening the I-Beam and potentially straighten the wall back to normal. Dave and Tammy’s tenants can now live in a waterproofed, stable home.
Open dirt floors crawlspaces can lead to a handful of problems: moisture in the home, mold growth, and energy deficiency to name a few. Encapsulated these crawlspaces can help prevent future home issues with the use of CleanSpace. CleanSpace is a thick liner that seals the ground from the home, providing a moisture barrier. If moisture cannot enter, mold has no “food” to grow. Another issue that comes about is heat loss. During the winter months, heating your home can become costly due to heat seeping out of the open crawlspace. Installing SilverGlo and a CleanSpace Liner help reflect heat and seal off the outside cold, helping reduce heading costs.
