Homeowners Mike and Sharon were having some issues with water seeping in their basement during large rainfalls. Water would only come in at a small section on the south side of the home. When they contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems to have their issue addressed, it was noted that water was seeping in through the large gap between the driveway and concrete patio. It was suggested that the injection of NexusPro Joint Sealant be placed along the large crack. This would protect from water seeping in and under the concrete, preventing the pooling water that would seep into the basement foundation. Sealing the gap not only preventing water from pooling underneath and against the foundation, but also prevents ground washouts from under the slabs. When washouts become present, the concrete will then cause the area to sink. NexusPro is not the only way to prevent the water seeping in the basement, and it was also offered that a waterproofing system be installed.

Mike and Sharon began to notice water seeping into a small portion of their basement wall and quickly reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems. Design specialist, Wes, inspected their situation and pointed out the main issue. The driveway had sunken, and pulled away from the home’s foundation, allowing water to seep in between and into the basement. He offered PolyLevel to help lift and level the concrete back against the foundation to prevent future water seepage. After the concrete was leveled, NexusPro Joint Sealant was applied to the crack, helping direct water away from the foundation, and a new waterproof system was installed to prevent any future leaks. Mike and Sharon not only have a waterproofed basement but a newly leveled driveway.

Sloping Sidewalk Causes Pooling Near Home's Foundation in Evansdale, IA

During rainfalls, Frank was having issues with water pooling and puddling around his garage’s foundation and along the sidewalk to the front door. Large gaps were also becoming apart due to washouts from the pooling water, causing the concrete to sink even more. He reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems to have his issue addressed. He was offered PolyLevel and NexusPro Joint Sealant to resolved his issue. PolyLevel was injected under the concrete to fill the voids that had been caused by washouts. This lifted and leveled the slabs, and helped reduce the large gaps between each section, to prevent pooling and puddling next to the foundation. NexusPro Joint Sealant was than applied to all the cracks to divert future water away from the ground that was still present under the concrete, providing a longer-lasting solution for leveled slabs.

Homeowner, Kate heard about MidAmerica Basement Systems through another friend who had work done on her home. Kate mentioned to her friend that she was experiencing water leaking into her basement every time it would rain. Kate's friend pointed her in our direction. Design Specialist, Bryan took a look at Kate's home and was able to give her the best long-term recommendation.

Bryan recommended to Kate a CleanSpace Wall System. This is a thicker, white liner that is a permanent installation that is drilled into the basement wall. It creates a vapor barrier, is washable, and can conform to any basement wall type, even stone or bumpy walls. Bryan also recommended to Kate a TripleSafe Sump Pump, WaterGuard, a WaterGuard Port, IceGuard, and a LawnSpace Outlet. All of these elements, of course, play an important role in the waterproofing process.

Kate was very pleased knowing that she no longer has to check her basement frequently while it is raining. She can now go about her day and be able to enjoy watching the rainfall. Her basement is now dry and will continue to stay dry even when it is raining outside!

No More Concrete Tripping Hazard's in Hudson, IA

Leveling out the sidewalk was an easy concrete fix for this homeowner in Hudson, IA. After dealing with uneven concrete for quite some time now they were ready to have it fixed. Part of the concrete was raised higher than the rest creating a tripping hazard. They called the experts in the industry, MidAmerica Basement Systems and we were more than happy to come out to help!

PolyLevel has the same idea as mudjacking but uses lightweight foam rather than mud. PolyLevel is installed by injecting material directly into the concrete slab through a dime size hole. As poly is injected into the slab the slab will expand back up in a controlled way. It does not disturb the concrete in any way. It only compresses the soil beneath as it lifts creating a stable base in areas where the fill soil was poorly compacted. Once the PolyLevel is installed the concrete can be walked and driven on in fifteen minutes.

The concrete is now leveled and no longer a tripping hazard for the homeowner. If you too are looking to have your concrete driveway or sidewalk fixed or looking to learn more about PolyLevel, do not hesitate to reach out to MidAmerica Basement Systems. Horizontal Cracked Wall Stabilized in Pekin, IL

A horizontal crack ran through a portion of a homeowner's home in Pekin, IL. The crack was thicker than a quarter and caused the wall to bow inward towards the basement. The homeowner was worried that the wall would eventually cave in, so they contacted the MidAmerica Basement Systems and we were more than happy to help them out. A Design Specialist came out to the homeowner's home to give them the best recommendation that would permanently stabilize the wall, a PowerBrace.

A PowerBrace beam is installed against a foundation wall by bolting the brace to the floor slab below and to the ceiling beam above to stop the wall from bowing further inward. This installation is perfect for homes that have limited access to the exterior foundation walls, an example would be property lines, landscaping, and other structures. A PowerBrace is mounted against the wall and will keep the forces between the flooring and wall equal for maximum strength. Once the system is installed your wall is permanently stable. It does have an adjustable bracket that can be tightened further during dry periods when soil and water pressure outside the wall are less. It is designed with zinc-plated coating. It will keep the system looking great and rust free.

The once bowing inward wall is now stabilized with a PowerBrace thanks to the MidAmerica Basement Systems Team! The homeowner now has one less worry about their wall and can enjoy their basement once again. If you too have a foundation wall that is cracked or bowing or would like to learn about the services we offer, do not hesitate to reach out to MidAmerica Basement Systems.
