Jamie was afraid her drain tile would become clogged like it had in the past and she really wanted to finish her basement. She was referred to MidAmerica Basement Systems to get a free estimate.
Soon after giving them a call, an appointment was set up for Mike Banks to come evaluate the basement. Mike decided the best solution for the water problem was to install a TripleSafe pumping system and a full perimeter of WaterGuard drainage system around the basement. The TripleSafe pumping system will keep the basement dry and be able to keep up with any rain storm. The full perimeter of WaterGuard drainage system will make sure the water is directed to the pumping system throughout the entire business. After giving them a call, an appointment was set up for Joe Sarb to come diagnose the basement and crawlspace. Joe decided the best solution for the water issue was to install a TripleSafe pumping system to pump the water out and away from the home. Also, a full perimeter of WaterGuard drainage system to make sure the water has a way to travel to the pumping system. Finally, BrightWall strips to protect form the water coming in through the walls of the basement. For the crawlspace, Joe proposed encapsulating the entire area with CleanSpace, this will fully encapsulate the crawlspace making it cleaner and nearly impossible for animals to get in. This basement in Cedar Rapids is owned by Graig, who noticed the deterioration of his basement and wanted a solution that he could trust to be efficient and reliable. Graig called on the MidAmerica Basement Systems team and requested to have one of our experts come out to his home and assess the problem.
With a greater understanding of what was happening and what can be done (including cost) to remedy Graig's basement troubles, Graig agreed. With Bill Wilcox as Primary Foreman, the team began working on Graig's basement. First, the team installed the TripleSafe sump pump system to alleviate the basement of further flood damage. The TripleSafe sump pump system is powerful enough to pump out at least 12,000 gallons of water (the average size of basements from floor to ceiling) and smart enough to alert Graig if there is ever a problem.

Tony and Dawn, homeowners of this Cedar Rapids home, really wanted to have a warm, bright and inviting basement. Starting with the windows. They called the team at MidAmerica Basement Systems and the expert, Joe Sarb, had the perfect solution that would not only provide Tony and Dawn with everything they wanted (like brightness and warmth) but also the things they needed (like durability and waterproof). With Mike Keck leading the team, they began by digging a hole around the exterior ground level window. Then they began enlarging the original window size to fit the new, larger energy efficient StakWel Egress window. To encapsulate the StakWel Egress window, the team installed the SunHouse. A durable window dressing that keeps weed, leaves and rain at bay. The SunHouse has a sturdy, clear lid that allows plenty of natural light in. The SunHouse is also a bright white color which allows light to bounce off and illuminate dark spaces.

Ashley just purchased this home in Cedar Rapids. The home was built in the 1920's, so Ashley knew her new home may need some TLC. What Ashley didn't know until after it rained, was the substantial problem occurring in her basement. Ashley called MidAmerica Basement Systems about a massive leak that resembled more of a waterfall than a leak. Mike wanted to insulate and encapsulate his space and requested an estimate from MidAmerica Basement Systems. Michael Banks went out to inspect the space and provide Mike a plan and an estimate. Mike Clementz was the lead foreman for the job and though they had very limited space to work, they were able to give the homeowner, Mike, everything he asked for and needed. The team installed CleanSpace to seal Mike's crawl space from the exposed earth. They installed the SmartDrain which will drain leaks that may potentially occur. Neil had noticed that his driveway had settled about two inches lower than his garage slab. He had previously had work down with MidAmerica Basement Systems and reached out to them again. Over time, the fill soil under the concrete driveway had settled, creating voids under them, this then caused the driveway to become unlevel with the garage slab. A specialist suggested using PolyLevel to help lift the concrete slabs back to their original height. Now Neil’s transition from garage to driveway is smooth and unnoticeable.
Keith lived in an older home, and with older homes comes ground settlement and shifts. The ground around his home was causing pressure against the walls, making the bow inward. Bowing walls can cause an unstable home to live in if not addressed properly. MidAmerica Basement Systems offered the installing of PowerBraces for Keith’s home. PowerBraces are a patented tightening I-Beam system that improve the wall’s condition over time. Installing PowerBraces are very strategic, making sure that the weight of the wall is evenly distributed along the wall, while properly distributing the rest of the home’s weight. Old, cracked, and dingy windows made Jim’s basement dark and unpleasant. Bryan was looking to turn his basement into an entertainment area, but was nervous about putting the time and money into it due to his leaking foundation walls. He had a sump pump, but didn’t seem to be very effective when water was reaching the surface of his floor. When a representative from MidAmerica Basement Systems arrived at his home, it was suggested installing CleanSpace and WaterGuard to address the leaking walls. CleanSpace provides a moisture barrier between his wall and basement, sealing out unwanted moisture. Along the base of the walls, WaterGuard was installed to collect the water running off the walls. After entering the WaterGuard, water is properly directed to the sump pump where it is properly discharged from the home. Now with a fully waterproofed basement, Bryan can continue to finish his basement without the worry of water damage.
Phil and Laura were having issues with water coming up through their floor foundation cracks. This was a large concern for them, because they thought the only way that it could be fix was demoing the whole floor and laying down new concrete. During their waterproofing inspection, Dustin of MidAmerica Basement Systems offered them a relief to their floor. With the installation of WaterGuard and Lateral drain systems, water will no longer seep in through the floor cracks, but instead flow into the drains to be directed to the TripleSafe sump. Without the help from the Lateral drains, water would surface to the floor, making the basement wet.
PolyLevel is a new start of the art approach to lifting and leveling sinking slabs. Similar to mudjacking, PolyLevel provides a better and more accurate solution. The lightweight polymer material fills voids and lifts concrete without the extra stress applied to the failed fill soil. Weighing less than 4 pounds per cubic foot, compared to the 120 pounds per cubic foot of mudjacking slurry, it can lift up to 4,000 pounds per square foot. The quick drying time allows for area usage after 15 minutes of injection rather than days after injection of mudjacking. PolyLevel is extremely accurate, over- or under-lifting is never a worry.
When concrete slabs settle, it can produce tripping hazards. Stan was concerned about the large difference from his driveway to the walkway to the front door. He contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems to have his hazard addressed. PolyLevel was injected to lift and level the two areas of concrete, allowing for a smooth transition from driveway to walkway. With PolyLevel, Stan was able to use his driveway and walkway within minutes after the crew had completed his job. With PolyLevel, he now has safe walking areas for his guests and himself.
Settled soil can cause voids underneath concrete slabs, leading to sunken and even cracked concrete. Injecting PolyLevel with MidAmerica Basement Systems offers a long-lasting lifting and leveling solution. Small holes, roughly the size of a dime, are drilled into the concrete to inject PolyLevel. The high-density polymers fill the voids, expanding to lift the concrete. The quick reaction time offers for a precise lift, leveling the concrete slabs in minutes. PolyLevel has a fast cure time, allowing for accessibility to the area in as soon as 15 minutes after injection. PolyLevel is the new, permanent solution to concrete lifting and leveling.
Ashley had an older home, and over the years her small seeping foundation had turned a waterfall stream. She reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems to have her problem fixed. It was suggested that she have BrightWall, WaterGuard and a TripleSafe installed. The BrightWall gives the basement a vapor barrier from the water the enters in through to foundation, directing it to the WaterGuard. WaterGuard is placed around the perimeter of the basement to collect water that seeps in the foundation, and is directed to the TripleSafe. The TripleSafe than discharges all the water that enters the home, back out, leaving the basement dry.
Due to the cracks in between concrete slabs, rain water can easily seep down, causing the ground to wash out. Wash outs then leave voids under the concrete, causing them to sink and even crack under extreme conditions. Appling NexusPro Joint Sealant, water can no longer seep in between the slabs, helping the ground under the slabs keep longer. NexusPro also blends with the concrete, reducing the appearance of unsightly cracks caused by voids. NexusPro helps the life extension of concrete slabs.
PolyLevel is a state of the art approach to repairing sunken concrete, with a twist of the old mud jacking ways. Using modern technology and knowledge, PolyLevel offers many more advantages. Holes, roughly 5/8 inch in size, are drilled into the concrete so the high-density polymers can fill the voids that have formed underneath the slabs. After all voids are filled, the PolyLevel expands, lifting and leveling to sunken slabs. The lightweight material weighs less than 4lbs per cubic foot compared to the 120lbs of mud jacking slurry, offering less stress weight on the soil. PolyLevel also has a quick drying time, allowing access to the injected area within 15 minutes of application. Mud jacking can take several days to cure, preventing the use of the area.
Basements are cold and damp, making them unpleasant to be in. Installing the right insulation can be tricky due to the damp concrete walls. There is a solution to cracked, slopping, uneven concrete, and the solution is PolyLevel. PolyLevel is a concrete injection that is injected through the slab to raise it back up. A dime size hole is first drilled into the slab. Next, the lightweight foam is then injected through the hole to lift and expand the concrete back up in a controlled way. Once the concrete is lifted back up the hole is then sealed off and the concrete is once again useable.
