This damp, dark crawl space belongs to a homeowner in Bettendorf. The homeowner called the MidAmerica Basement Systems experts because they wanted a cleaner, dryer crawl space. The team installed drainage matting before encapsulating the crawl space. Drainage matting is great to allow water to flow easily to a local drain. CleanSpace was installed over the ground and up the walls to fully encapsulate the space. Then the team installed SmartDrain to drain away any leaks in the crawl space. The homeowners are thrilled with the cleanliness, dryness and brightness of their crawl space!

Job Stories From Scott County, IA
Keeping Basements Dry in Blue Grass

Joyce was tired of dealing with all her basement issues by herself so she called in the experts. She was referred to MidAmerica Basement Systems for a free estimate.

After calling the office, an appointment was set up for Mac McDaniel to come evaluate her basement. Mac decided the best solution for her basement was to use Wall Anchors and Power Braces to keep the walls from falling in, as well as pushing them back to their upright positions. Mac also diagnosed a water problem and decided a TripleSafe pumping system and some WaterGuard would solve the issue. The TripleSafe pumping system will get the water out and away from the home at a higher rate and the WaterGuard will filter that water to the TripleSafe.

Joyce is very happy with the work and experience that MidAmerica Basement Systems provided. She no longer has to worry about her basement caving in or there being water after a rain storm.

Strengthening a Foundation in Walcott

Jorden and Chelsey were concerned with the cracks and bowing in their foundation walls. They were referred by a past customer to get a free estimate from MidAmerica Basement Systems.

Shortly after giving them a call, an appointment was set up for Mac McDaniel to come and diagnose the basement. Mac decided the best solution for the foundation issues was to install Power Braces up around the basement walls. The Power Brace system prevents the walls from caving in anymore and also will progressively push the walls back to their straightened positions.

Jorden and Chelsey are very pleased with the professionalism of everyone at MidAmerica Basement Systems. They no longer have to worry about their foundation getting any worse.

Dirty Crawlspace Made Clean in Bettendorf

Joel and Shirlene were tired of the mustiness and water in their dirt crawlspace. They were referred to MidAmerica Basement Systems to get a free estimate.

After a quick phone call, an appointment was set up for Kevin Coakley to come evaluate the basement. Kevin decided the best solution for the crawlspace was to install a SmartSump pumping system, a full perimeter of Smart Pipe, and encapsulate the area with CleanSpace. The SmartSump pumping system is a small sump pit to fit into a small crawlspace that will take the water out and away from the home. Smart Pipe is dug around the inside perimeter of the home and buried to keep the water from getting into the space. CleanSpace is an encapsulation material that will get rid of the dirty look and also help with the waterproofing process.

Joel and Shirlene are very happy to no longer deal with their crawlspace, thanks to MidAmerica Basement Systems. They now can show their friends and family who are having the same type of issues that there is a solution.

CleanSpace & Radon Mitigation Shields Crawl Space in Princeton, IL

This crawl space in Princeton belongs to Harlan. Harlan wanted his space restored, waterproofed, and protected. He called MidAmerica Basement Systems to remedy the problem once and for all.

A MidAmerica team member and trained professional, was sent to inspect/test the home, advised Harlan of what should be done and quoted Harlan the same day. Once the game plan was set, the MidAmerica team began encapsulating the space. The experts were able to protect the crawl space from increasing Radon levels by installing radon mitigation system. The system collects soil gasses and a radon depressurization vent forces radon out from the home.

The floor of the crawlspace was fitted with a polyethylene drainage matting that creates an airspace for water to flow to under the CleanSpace liner. The CleanSpace liner creates a vapor barrier. The liner is durable, effective, and transforms any crawl space into a brighter, cleaner, and safer space.

Harlan can breathe happy and healthy knowing that his home is protected. MidAmerica is honored to help provide safer homes for their customers!

Basement Water Guarded in Davenport, IA

Kurtis is the homeowner of this Davenport basement. Kurtis was experiencing some issues with water entering his basement and wanted an effective system to waterproof the space so Kurtis called the experts at MidAmerica Basement Systems. The team sent expert Michael Banks to inspect the home and upon inspection Michael was able to provide some solutions to Kurtis's basement concerns and quote him the same day.

Justin Bailey was the lead foreman in charge of the project and they installed the SuperSump and WaterGuard. The patented SuperSump comes with the M98 Zoeller cast iron pump which can pump an estimated 4,320 gallons per hour. The SuperSump can also come with other pumps such as the high volume M137 (6240 gph) or the M266 solids pump (7680 gph) depending on the needs of the space.

The SuperSump comes with the WaterWatch alarm system that will warn Kurtis if there is a problem that needs immediate addressing. SuperSump comes with an airtight lid that allows water to drain but does not allow water vapor (damp, smelly, humid air) to come up. The SuperSump comes with sump pump stands to keep debris that may collect on the bottom away from the pump system. The perimeter of Kurtis's basement was waterproofed by installing the WaterGuard. WatergGuard is a perimeter drainage system redirecting leaks to the SuperSump.

Basement Stabilized & Waterproofed in Davenport, IA

The homeowner of this basement in Davenport called MidAmerica Basement Systems for a free estimate on waterproofing the basement and fixing the foundation walls.

To address water intrusion the team installed the TripleSafe sump pump system. TripleSafe is specifically designed to keep basements dry all the time with 3 pumps and special features like a WaterWatch alarm system making this patented unit a basement owners dream. The team installed a perimeter drainagae system, WaterGuard to redirect water leaks to the TripleSafe sump pump. To stabilize the walls, the experts installed CarbonArmor. CarbonArmor is stronger than concrete and steel and has a sleek design allowing the homeowner to paint over it for a finished look in the future. CarbonArmor is a long black carbon fiber strip that hugs the walls with the strongest epoxies. The CarbonArmor stips are 7 inches wide but because it is the ONLY carbon fiber product made to code, it maintains the equivalent strength of laminate products. The team further waterproofed the space by lining the bottom half of the foundation walls with CleanSpace liners. CleanSpace is a durable, bright, flexible, 7 ply material infused with an antimicrobial agent that fights mold growth.

The homeowner now has a stable, safe, dryer, and healthier basement!

Basement Made Ready for Finishing in Davenport, IA

This Davenport homeowner was ready to start making some changes! They wanted to start beautifying their basement to add an extra living space for the family to enjoy. There was some reoccurring water intrusion water intrusion so the homeowner knew they had to address some issues first if they wanted to finish the basement so they called the MidAmerica Basement Systems team.

First, the team installed WaterGuard as the perimeter drainage system. WaterGuard is designed to allow wall leaks to drain into the system and off the foundation floors. The team replaced the old, drafty window system with the energy efficient, all-vinyl, double pane glass EverLast window system.

The space was then insulated with the installation of Basement to Beautiful wall panels. The panels are have a SilverGlo graphite infused 2 1/2" thick foam that are vapor barriers, insulating and allow wall leaks to drain down to the WaterGuard perimeter drainage system. Another great feature of the panels are the wire chases built into the panels for electrical wiring. To keep humidity levels low, save energy and filter the air, the team installed the ever efficient SaniDry XP.

CleanSpace Saves Electric Bill in Moline, IL Home

Bob of Moline couldn’t understand why his electric bill was so high every month when his home was only 620 sq. ft. Upon research, he discovered that untreated crawl spaces have cooler temperatures which push up through the home, cooling the home, which causes the furnace to run more.

The experts at MidAmercia Basement Systems installed a spray foam to insulate the crawl space. Insulating the crawl space alone will not completely fix your problem, but will help a little. To make a significant difference in energy savings, the crawl space should be completely encapsulated. Completely isolating the crawl space from outside elements, the dirt floor and walls has CleanSpace installed over them. CleanSpace is a thick liner that won’t tear or puncture, allowing it to completely encapsulate the area – keeping to cold out, and the warm in. Now Bob can run his furnace without paying a fortune.

PowerBraces Support Foundation Walls in Davenport, IA Home

Robert M. lives in an older home with foundation built out of concrete block. Over the years, the ground around his home has settled, causes stress on his foundation. The experts at MidAmerica Basement Systems suggested that a PowerBrace system be installed to prevent the walls from bowing any further. Over time, PowerBraces may potentially straighten the foundation walls back to their original state.

Davenport, IA Home Levels Driveway with PolyLevel

Bob of Davenport was noticing a tripping hazard on his walkway to him front door, and was concerned about his guests’ safety. When he contacted the experts at MidAmerica Basement Systems, they recommend PolyLevel and NexusPro. PolyLevel was injected to level the uneven walkway so a tripping hazard was no longer an issue to worry about. NexusPro was applied to all cracks along the walkway and driveway to help prevent water from seeping into the cracks. When water has access through the cracks of the concrete slabs, it allows for the ground underneath to wash out, causing voids under the concrete slabs. Voids under the concrete slabs than cause the slabs to become uneven and unsafe to walk on. NexusPro is a great solution to help prevent wash-outs under your concrete slabs, and keep your concrete healthy and safe.

Donald & Sally had an egress window installed by MidAmerican Basement and were very happy with us as a company saying we are a “one stop shop”. They heard about our Total Basement Finishing Products and were ready to go from basement to beautiful. Transforming an unfinished basement into a finished living space is a great way for any family to gain extra room. However, basement conditions demand different construction materials than those used upstairs. Basement-to-Beautiful Wall Panels have all the right features; zero wood or organic, integral steel studs, rigid foam insulation, Built-in wiring channels, Superior energy efficiency, and narrow profile great for insulation. Now the basement is livable let’s make it beautiful with our Everlast Wall Panel System. EverLast basement wall panels are engineered to never get moldy or rot. They cannot be damaged by moisture and won't support mold or mildew growth. EverLast Basement Wall Panels are NOT like drywall. Drywall with fiberglass insulation supports mold growth, will damage from moisture, and will lose insulation value when wet. They are made from 2 1/2 inch thick rigid foam insulation with 1/2 inch thick cement board cladding. The cement board is finished with an off-white vinyl surface treatment.

Historic J. Monroe Parker Home Waterproofing in Davenport, IA

The J. Monroe Parker house was built in 1881 by James Monroe Paker who was a wealthy davenport financer. The home was designed by 19th-century builder T.W. McClelland. The home features a mansard roof, multicolor slate shingles, wrought-iron roof cresting, brackets, moldings and fanciful window surrounds. Today the home is associated with Delta Sigma Chi Fraternity of Palmer College of Chiropractic. They have recently been given a grant to update the home.

The challenge with this large historic home was that the home had few straight walls and the WaterGuard system had to be cut in many different sizes and placed. Four TripleSafe sump pumps were added to the home to make sure that the home stayed dry.  The TripleSafe sump pump is a three pump system that comes with a battery back up and WaterWatch alarm. The battery back up is used to keep the pump running in the case that the power goes out. The WaterWatch alarm is placed at the top of the pump and will alert you in case the water in the pump gets too high. The walls had a layer of CleanSpace added to them. CleanSpace is a barrier that is installed on the walls, similar to a very thick pool liner and will help keep out moisture.
