Challenge

Matthew and Kate were experiencing frequent water intrusion in their Dubuque, IA basement. The water would come up through the middle of the floors, and all around the perimeter. They also were suffering from high levels of humidity. They called the experts at MidAmerica Basement Systems to get their damp basement issues taken care of once and for all.

Solution

After Matthew and Kate reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems, they met with one of the expert Certified System Design Specialists, Mike Banks. Mike conducted a thorough investigation of the inside and outside of Matthew and Kate's house. Mike then proposed a solution that would keep Matthew and Kate's home dry and for many years to come.

The solution, installed by crew leader Justin Reger and his team, included a variety of waterproofing materials to create a system that would work well for Matthew and Kate's unique needs. Full perimeter, patented sub-floor drainage system, WaterGuard was installed with a Trench Drain, and lateral drainage as well. The lateral drainage system is placed where the floors might be a little lower, causing water to try to come up through the floor.

Justin Reger's team also installed a brand new TripleSafe Sump Pump, and SaniDry self-draining dehumidifier. The TripleSafe Sump Pump, which is equipped with three pumps, was also equipped with the IceGuard attachment piece, a buried discharge line, and the LawnScape. The basement is now dry, and Matthew and Kate love that the space has the potential to be usable.

WaterGuard is installed flush to the wall. The trench will be created along the outside perimeter walls.
WaterGuard is placed on top of gravel. The gravel helps keep the water moving.
Water from the WaterGuard system empties into the TripleSafe Sump Pump.
Lateral drainage material is installed in particularly low spots where water has a habit of trying to come up through the floors.
After the WaterGuard is installed, it is concreted over, keeping it in place to function as it's meant to: a sub-floor drainage system.
The TrenchDrain briefly replaces the WaterGuard in front of this doorway.
With the basement now waterproofed, the family can enjoy the downstairs fireplace.
WaterGuard is installed, keeping the basement nice and dry.
