Before & After

When rain hits Morrison, Illinois, the last thing any homeowner wants is a basement that doubles as a collection pool. The "before" photo tells a familiar story: moisture seeping through the foundation and creating a persistent headache for the folks living above it. Dealing with a damp subterranean space is a drain on both your peace of mind and your property value, but these are exactly the kinds of challenges we’ve built our reputation on solving throughout the Midwest.
We stepped in to overhaul the area by installing a SunHouse Enclosure, a specialized solution designed to seal out the elements while adding a much-needed layer of protection to the home's exterior access points. As you can see in the "after" shot, the transformation is about more than just aesthetics; it is about creating a bone-dry environment that stays that way regardless of the forecast. It’s another successful project in the books, proving once again that the right foundation expertise can turn a compromised basement back into a functional, reliable part of the home.
As you can see in the before photo, this Lostant, IL homeowner was facing a safety concern without a proper exit point in their basement. They turned to us for a solution and, through the installation of a Rockwell egress window, we were able to transform their basement into a safer, more functional space. Notice in the after photo how the new egress window provides a clear, unobstructed exit path, ensuring safety in case of an emergency. Additionally, the larger size of the Rockwell window allows for significantly more natural light and ventilation, improving the overall comfort and livability of the basement. Now, their basement is not only a safer place for everyone but also a more enjoyable space to be in, all thanks to the installation of a Rockwell egress window.
Before taking on the exciting project of finishing their basement and adding a new bedroom, this homeowner in Peoria, IL knew they needed to install an egress window to ensure their space met safety standards. As you can see in the before photo, the area was just begging for transformation, the small existing window just wasn't enough to make the space inviting and had seen better days. Following our installation, you can see the clear difference in the space. The room is now flooded with natural light, perfectly complementing the room while keeping it up to code. At MidAmerica Basement Systems, we leap at the opportunity to enhance living spaces through reliable solutions that last, and this job is a perfect example of that.
In Peoria, IL, a homeowner was facing a growing safety concern: a failing egress well. The existing structure was crumbling and visually compromised, creating significant anxiety for the family. An egress well is a critical safety feature, but when the foundation around it begins to fail, it shifts from a life-saving exit to a structural liability. Staring out of a basement window at a collapsing well is never a reassuring sight for any property owner.
Mike Chezum, our System Design Specialist, arrived on-site to perform a comprehensive evaluation. Mike identified the specific points of failure in the old well and designed a replacement plan that prioritized both structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. His goal was to move the homeowner from a state of worry to a state of total security.
Once the plan was green-lit, Foreman Jacob Quinn and his production crew took over the transformation. The team focused on a clean, robust installation process:
Removal & Excavation: The crew carefully extracted the old, vulnerable structure without disturbing the surrounding foundation.
System Reinforcement: Jacob ensured the new egress well was seated on a robust foundation feature, meeting all modern safety requirements and local building codes.
Final Grading: The area was meticulously finished to ensure proper drainage away from the new unit.
The results, as seen in the project photos, are night and day. What was once a crumbling, compromised structure is now a robust, high-quality egress well that enhances the home’s value and safety.
By replacing the "vulnerable" with the "sturdy," Mike and Jacob provided the homeowner with more than just a new window well—they provided peace of mind for years to come. Peeking outside is now a pleasant experience, and the basement is once again a secure, code-compliant living space.
This Pekin, IL homeowner decided more was better than less, and called MidAmerica Basement Systems out to add some light to her basement. Design specialist Dan Garner helped determine that an egress window would be the best solution to getting more light in her basement, while foreman Mike Keck was tasked with the installation.
