If the system rusts than the basic function of the window is compromised. The new Egress system are made of vinyl so no rusting. The window is also double paneled argon filled which will help to prevent air in or out of the basement, saving the homeowner money on their energy bills. The windows can actually be removed from inside (to allow for cleaning or allow for an easier exit if need be).
