In Sterling, IL, a homeowner contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems to address chronic crawl space condensation and mold growth threatening their home’s air quality and structural integrity. To resolve this, System Design Specialist Andrew Sagar diagnosed the moisture issues, while Foreman Jacob Schultz and crew members Colby and Jeremiah executed the high-performance encapsulation and drainage plan.
During the initial inspection, Andrew Sagar identified that high humidity was evaporating from the exposed earth, migrating upward, and causing heavy window condensation and mold risks. To isolate the home from this damp subgrade, he designed a system combining CleanSpace® vapor barrier encapsulation, specialized Drainage Matting, and a SmartSump™ crawl space drainage system.
Jacob Schultz, Colby, and Jeremiah prepared the space and laid down the dimpled Drainage Matting to create an unobstructed flow path for under-slab water. They then sealed the entire crawl space with the durable, mold-resistant CleanSpace liner, running it up the walls to form an airtight envelope. Finally, they integrated the SmartSump pump to collect and safely discharge groundwater before it could pool.
The results were immediate and highly effective. With the crawl space fully encapsulated and actively drained, the homeowner noticed a rapid decrease in window condensation and a halt to mold growth. This professional intervention successfully transformed a damp, hazardous crawl space into a dry, energy-efficient, and structurally secure foundation.
After years of "playing mop-up" following every storm, a Sterling homeowner decided enough was enough. The final straw? A record-breaking rain that turned their basement into a mini swimming pool—complete with a musty odor that was hard to ignore.
They reached out to our Customer Care team, and our System Design Specialist soon arrived to map out a permanent solution. The diagnosis was clear: to reclaim this space, we needed the "dream team" of basement waterproofing.
Our expert installation crew moved in to install the WaterGuard sub-floor drainage system along the perimeter. Discreetly tucked under a fresh layer of concrete, WaterGuard intercepts water before it ever reaches the floor, channeling it directly to the TripleSafe Sump Pump. With three levels of protection—including a battery backup—the TripleSafe ensures that even during a power outage, the basement stays dry.
Today, the "water park antics" are over. Whether they use the space for storage or a future playroom, this homeowner finally has the dry, fresh basement they deserve.
When we arrived at this Sterling home, the "before" photo told a soggy story. The homeowner wasn't just dealing with a little dampness; they had an accidental Olympic-sized water nuisance on their hands. Between leaking drywall and a foundation that stayed persistently wet, the basement was effectively unusable.
Our specialist, Andrew Sagar, sat down with the homeowner to design a permanent solution that would move the water out and keep the humidity down. Once the plan was set, Foreman Jacob Oetzman and his crew took over the transformation.
To ensure this basement stayed dry for the long haul, the team installed a comprehensive waterproofing system:
WaterGuard: An interior drainage system to intercept water before it hits the floor.
TripleSafe Sump Pump: Three levels of protection to handle even the heaviest Illinois downpours.
CleanSpace Wall System: A durable vapor barrier to protect against wall leaks and brighten the entire room.
The "after" photo shows a space that is unrecognizable from the swampy mess we started with. Thanks to Andrew’s planning and Jacob’s precision, the water hazard is officially a thing of the past. The homeowner is finally ready to trade the "swimming pool" for a pool table and a fresh coat of paint.

In Sterling, IL, a returning customer reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems with a new and unsettling concern. While we had previously resolved their basement waterproofing needs, they noticed one of their foundation walls had begun to bow inward. Understanding that structural issues grow more complex with time, they knew that they could rely on our team to protect the home they had worked so hard to maintain.
The journey toward a stable home began with a comprehensive evaluation by one of our System Design Specialists. After inspecting the wall's movement and the external pressure affecting the foundation, we recommended the PowerBrace system. This solution was selected for its immense structural strength and its ability to be installed without the need for invasive exterior excavation.
Our production team then arrived on-site to execute the stabilization. The process involved custom-fitting zinc-plated steel beams to the basement's specific height, which were then secured against the affected wall. Using the heavy-duty brackets anchored to both the concrete floor and the floor joists above, the PowerBrace immediately halted any further inward wall movement.
A unique advantage of the PowerBrace system is its adjustable design. Over time, these braces can be tightened, providing the potential to gradually guide the bowing wall back toward its original, vertical position. This ensures the home's framework is not only stabilized but actively reinforced for the long haul.
Throughout the project, we maintained clear communication to ensure the homeowner felt confident in every step of the process. True to our standards, we left the basement cleaner than we found it, leaving the family with a secure foundation and total peace of mind. At MidAmerica Basement Systems, we value the long-term relationships we build with our customers, and we are proud to be the team they trust to keep their homes on solid ground.
In Sterling, IL a homeowner was faced with a deteriorating foundation wall where bricks had begun to fall. This raised concerns for the structural integrity of the entire home. They reached out to us at MidAmerica Basement Systems, known for setting new standards in contracting and providing remarkable experiences for homeowners. One of our System Design Specialists visited the home to preform a comprehensive inspection and diagnose the problem. The solution? Our highly reliable EverBrace system, designed specifically for such extreme conditions.
The work proceeded with our skilled production team, who meticulously installed the EverBrace system. Steel corrugated panels were carefully positioned to span between durable steel I-beams, providing much-needed reinforcement. To ensure lasting stability, we injected a specialized rigid foam beneath these panels, effectively transferring any load from the weakened wall to the newly installed support system.
Once the installation was complete, the team took the time to tidy up, leaving the homeowner with a space tidier than it was found. The enthusiastic feedback confirmed once again, our commitment to providing not just a structural fix, but a remarkable homeowner experience. With the permanent wall stabilizing solution securely in place, this Sterling homeowner can now rest easy, knowing her home is safe and sound once more.

The CleanSpace walling is a great look for the basement walls, but also blocks the water from the walls and directs it to the WaterGuard to be pumped out as well. The Power Braces are long steel beams that keep the wall from caving in and over time will push the wall back into its original position.
