Radon Testing Steps:

Step 1: Contact Us

Simply contact us by calling or filling out the form on our website to sign up for your kit. We will coordinate a way to get you your kit so you can perform the test at your home.

Step 2: Perform the Radon Test

Performing the radon test only takes a few minutes and is simple for you to do it yourself at home. Each kit comes with specific instructions to follow. Be sure to pay attention to the instructions and close all windows and doors. The test also needs to be performed in the lowest area of your home, typically in the basement. The testing period is usually between 48 - 90 hours.

Step 3: Send Your Kit to the Lab

Once you’ve completed the radon test, you’ll need to reseal the package and send it to the lab to be analyzed. The information card will need to be completely filled out along with the package and the results will be sent back to you within a few weeks.

Benefits of Our Radon Test

Our radon test is very easy and convenient for you to do on your own time. They provide an accurate reading of the radon levels in your home so you will know what needs to be done to start protecting your home.

The EPA recommends performing 2 kits simultaneously and averaging the results. This is the most cost-effective and accurate way to test. By doing so, you’ll have an EPA approved radon level score within a few weeks.

Why is this the best option to test?

  • Convenient: You can place the test kits yourself on your own timeline without scheduling an appointment.
  • Accurate: By performing 2 test kits simultaneously you will have an EPA approved radon level score in weeks that you can act on, if necessary.

If your results show 4.0 pCi/L or higher, contact MidAmerica Basement Systems for a free radon mitigation system estimate.

Many homeowners will seek mitigation services even if the results are lower 4.0-- as there is no "healthy" level of radon exposure, and many countries have a much lower recommended action level than the US (for example, the World Health Organization sets the radon action level at 2.7 pCi/L). Radon levels can be controlled by installing a radon mitigation system in your home. Radon Mitigation Systems are affordable and installed in only one day by our highly trained and skilled technicians!
