Leaking, Bowing Foundation is Stabilized and Waterproofed in Kewanee, IL Basement

Challenge

Tony and Heidi were having issues with basement walls cracking, indicating a bowing foundation. This was causing water to seep in during heavy rainfalls, leaving the basement a wet mess. They decided to have the cracks filled with hydraulic cement to prevent water from coming in. What stopped the water from coming in the cracks, only made the water seep in through the floor and wall joint. They didn’t know what else to do, so called the experts at MidAmerica Basement Systems.

Solution

During the evaluation of their basement, design specialist, Mike, offered the couple a foundation stabilization and waterproof system. Mike informed them that if they wall were not properly stabilized, they would worsen over time, causing failure to the rest of the home. He offered them a CarbonArmor system to permanently stabilize and stop the walls from anymore inward movement. Each CarbonArmor strip bonds tightly against the wall and connects to an ArmorLock system on the wooden floor joist system for proper stabilization. To address the leaking basement, WaterGuard was installed along the inside perimeter. WaterGuard uses a special wall flange that can collect seeping wall water, and collects water from under the home’s foundation. Once the water is collected, it is then redirected to a TripleSafe sump pump to be discharged from the basement. To help control moisture and humidity levels, a SaniDry Sedona was installed.
