Waterproofing for a Basement Transformation in Hanover, IL
A homeowner in Hanover, Illinois, was unable to move forward with plans for a basement family room and fitness area due to persistent water seepage. The basement, which had earned a reputation for frequent flooding, required a professional, permanent solution before any finishing work—like drywall or carpeting—could begin.
System Design Specialist Terry Meiners conducted a thorough inspection of the property to diagnose the source of the water intrusion. Knowing the homeowner's ultimate goal was a finished basement, Terry designed a high-capacity, sub-floor drainage strategy. The project was specified to include.
- 76 feet of WaterGuard sub-floor drainage system
- TripleSafe sump pump system
- 40 feet of buried exterior PVC discharge line
The installation was led by our production team with a focus on technical precision and cleanliness.
Sub-Floor Drainage: The crew installed 76 feet of WaterGuard along the perimeter of the basement. This system is designed to sit discreetly beneath the floor slab, intercepting water and directing it to the sump pump before it reaches the floor surface
TripleSafe Protection: We installed the TripleSafe sump pump system, which features a primary pump, a secondary backup pump and an UltraSump battery backup. This ensures the basement remains protected even during the heavy storms and power outage

The Result: A "Market-Ready" Foundation
By the end of the project, the basement was transformed from a damp, unusable space into a bone-dry environment ready for renovation. With the WaterGuard and TripleSafe systems in place, the homeowner can now proceed with installing insulation, flooring and walls without the fear of water damage. MidAmerica Basement Systems provided the structural security needed to turn this Hanover basement into a functional part of the home.
