CarbonArmor Stabilizes Basement Foundation in Baileyville, IL
Challenge
Upon arrival, our specialists conducted a comprehensive interior and exterior inspection. The "stair-step" patterns David observed are classic symptoms of hydrostatic pressure—the soil outside was pushing against the foundation, causing the walls to deflect inward. Left untreated, these cracks would eventually lead to wall failure and compromised structural integrity.
Solution
To provide a permanent, non-invasive fix, we recommended the CarbonArmor® System. This solution was chosen for its ability to provide immediate stabilization without the need for exterior excavation.
The Installation Process:
- Reinforced Polymer Strips: We applied uniquely flexible, fiber-reinforced polymer strips directly to the basement walls. These strips are thinner than a penny but stronger than steel.
- High-Strength Adhesion: The strips were permanently bonded to the masonry using a high-strength epoxy, instantly gripping the wall to prevent further movement.
- The ArmorLock® Advantage: To ensure total stability, each strap was secured to the home's wooden floor joist system using ArmorLock® brackets.
By integrating the CarbonArmor® strips with ArmorLock® anchors, we created a tension-based reinforcement system. This setup distributes the load of the soil pressure across the home’s existing framework, halting any further cracking or inward bowing.
