WaterGuard Aids in Help with Sump Pump for Home in Edelstein, IL
Challenge
David and Sarah were no strangers to basement maintenance; they had relied on a standard sump pump for years. However, the system began to fail as water started seeping through various points across the floor. Realizing their existing setup was no longer holding back the water table, they contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems for a professional diagnostic.
Upon arrival, our design specialist identified two primary issues:
- Mechanical Fatigue: The existing pump had reached the end of its functional lifespan due to years of heavy use, rendering it unreliable during peak storms.
- Hydrostatic Pressure: Water wasn't just failing to exit; it was surfacing in areas far from the pit, indicating a need for a more comprehensive drainage solution.
Solution
To ensure a permanently dry environment, we implemented a two-tier waterproofing strategy:
- System Replacement: We replaced the failing unit with a high-capacity sump pump system designed for long-term durability and increased volume.
- WaterGuard® Installation: To address the seepage, we installed the WaterGuard® sub-floor drainage system. This perimeter piping intercepts water at the cove joint (where the wall meets the floor) and directs it straight to the pump before it ever reaches the surface.
By upgrading their equipment and adding a dedicated drainage track, David and Sarah effectively "waterproofed" their lifestyle. Their basement is once again a dry, usable space, protected by a system that proactively manages water rather than just reacting to it.
