Basement Waterproofing in Luxemburg, IA
Challenge
A homeowner in Luxemburg, IA, had a clear vision: they wanted to transform their unfinished basement into a functional living space and "cozy retreat." However, every time it rained, that dream felt further away. Recurring moisture along the floor-wall joint and a heavy, "soggy" atmosphere made it impossible to install flooring or drywall without the risk of mold and water damage.
The "before" state was a classic case of hydrostatic pressure—groundwater pushing its way through the foundation, leaving the space damp, musty, and unusable.
Solution
To provide a permanent solution, we installed a multi-layered defense system:
WaterGuard® Drainage System: We installed this patented interior drainage piping along the perimeter of the basement. Unlike traditional drains sitting in the dirt, WaterGuard rests above the "mud zone" on the foundation footing, ensuring it never clogs while it intercepts water before it reaches the floor.
SuperSump® Sump Pump System: To move the water out, we installed the SuperSump. Equipped with a high-end Zoeller® pump, it can discharge up to 2,220 gallons per hour. Its airtight lid keeps moisture and odors from rising back into the basement.
SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier: To tackle the "damp feeling," we added the Sedona. As the world’s most efficient high-performance dehumidifier, it removes up to 100 pints of water per day and filters the air, keeping humidity below 55%—the threshold where mold stops growing.
