A Deer Grove resident contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems after discovering persistent dampness, water marks on lower walls, and standing puddles across the basement floor after heavy rainfall. Saturated sub-soil surrounding the property was generating intense lateral pressure against the foundation, driving groundwater directly through microscopic wall-slab gaps and open masonry seams. Determined to prevent mold growth and safeguard their finished basement space, the owner requested a long-term water management design.
Solution
To neutralize water pressure and isolate the home’s interior from incoming seepage, our specialist mapped out a comprehensive perimeter drainage plan. The system requires opening a low-profile trench along the inner perimeter slab to embed a non-clogging drain channel directly above the concrete footing. Trapped moisture is directed straight into an airtight sump basin outfitted with a high-performance primary pump and an auxiliary battery backup system to keep running during power failures. Groundwater is then pushed away from the foundation through an outdoor discharge line equipped with a specialized ice-guard attachment to prevent winter freezing.
