Piers Stabilize Sterling, IL Basement Walls
Challenge
Sterling, IL homeowners, Dan and Julie had just refinished the basement. As they were starting to enjoy the space, they started noticing water coming into one room in the basement after heavy rainfall. Concerned, they contacted the local experts in all things basementy.
Solution
After Dan and Julie called MidAmerica Basement Systems, they met with design specialist, David "Mac" McDaniel. Mac chatted with the homeowners about their concerns, and then he investigated the problem area. Mac noticed during his investigation that there was a crack that could be indicative of settlement issues.
Upon further inspection, Mac discovered that the reason water was coming in was because part of the home was settling. Mac recommended that the homeowners have Push Piers installed to lift and stabilize the home. He also recommended a strip of patented sub-floor drainage system, WaterGuard, CleanSpace Wall, and for the crack to be sealed. Foreman Pete Hensler led the install of the Push Piers.
For Dan and Julie's issue, the best way to install the piers was from the inside. In order to lift and stabilize the home, six Push Piers were installed. Push Piers are designed to drive deep into the ground until they reach a rock bed or load bearing soil. The Push Pier, installed beneath the footing, then is able to transfer the weight of the home to the load bearing soil or rock bed. The galvanized steel stays below-grade so it's no longer visible after installation.
With the Push Pier install complete, Dan and Julie can relax knowing their home is safe.
