Leveling Up: How We Fixed a Major Driveway Trip Hazard in One Afternoon

When concrete slabs become uneven, the issue is rarely the concrete itself—it’s the soil underneath. Whether due to poor compaction, erosion, or moisture changes, voids form under the driveway, causing heavy slabs to crack and sink.

In this case, the "lip" between the slabs had grown to over two inches. Not only was it a trip hazard for the family, but it was also a "tire killer" every time they pulled into the garage.

Instead of bringing in heavy machinery to rip out the old concrete (which can take days to pour and weeks to cure), we used PolyLevel.

Precision Drilling: We drilled small, penny-sized holes into the sunken slabs.

The Injection: We injected our high-density, waterproof foam into the voids.

The Lift: As the foam expanded, it gently but powerfully lifted the concrete back to a perfect level.

The Seal: We finished the job by sealing the joints with NexusPro, ensuring that water can’t get back under the slabs to cause future sinking.

The best part? This entire process was completed in just a few hours. While a new concrete pour would have left this driveway out of commission for a week, these homeowners were able to drive their cars back onto the surface just 15 minutes after we finished.

By choosing leveling over replacement, the homeowner saved time, avoided a construction mess, and—most importantly—eliminated a dangerous hazard on their property. Their driveway is now stabilized, sealed, and ready to withstand the elements for years to come.
