Davenport Country Club Water Management
Challenge
The Davenport Country Club faced a high-stakes maintenance crisis when water began infiltrating the clubhouse basement. The seepage was concentrated directly around the building's primary electrical infrastructure, sparking immediate concerns for the safety and reliability of the club's power supply. Fearing that the moisture could lead to short circuits, equipment failure, or hazardous conditions for the staff, the management team prioritized finding a permanent solution to keep the basement bone-dry and protect their electrical work.
Solution
Upon calling in MidAmerica Basement Systems for a thorough inspection, the club braced for news of costly basement waterproofing or foundation repairs. However, the assessment revealed the the problem was not as structurally dire as originally anticipated. The root cause was not a breach in the foundation walls, but rather a failure in surface water management. It was discovered that the flow of rainwater away from the clubhouse was highly inefficient, roof runoff was pooling to close to the base of the building finding a path of least resistance through the basement entry points.
To resolve this issues for good, our team implemented a strategic drainage upgrade focused on source control. We installed extended buried downspouts designed to capture water directly from the gutters and transport it well away from the foundation. By burying these lines, we ensured that high volumes of water would be discharged at a safe distance from the clubhouse without compromising the club's pristine landscaping. This straightforward yet effective fix successfully diverted the moisture away from the electrical area, securing the clubhouse basement against future water intrusion and providing the club with long-term peace of mind.
