Basement Systems Solutions in East Moline, IL
Challenge
A residential property in East Moline was suffering from chronic hydrostatic pressure, leading to significant water seepage at the cove joint (where the wall meets the floor). The basement was frequently damp, rendering the square footage unusable and threatening the home's air quality. Additionally, the exterior concrete surfaces had begun to settle, creating trip hazards and unsightly gaps.
Design Specialist Andrew Sager conducted a thorough inspection of the perimeter and the slab integrity. Andrew identified that the existing drainage was insufficient for the local water table. He proposed a "defense-in-depth" strategy: intercepting water before it reached the floor, providing a redundant pumping system, and utilizing high-density geopolymer injection to stabilize the concrete.
Solution
Foreman Jacob O. and his installation crew executed a multi-phase restoration over the course of the project:
- Water Management & Drainage
- The team installed WaterGuard, a sub-floor drainage conduit. Unlike traditional exterior drains that can clog with soil, WaterGuard sits in a filtration bed atop the footing, specifically engineered to stay clear while directing seepage to the filtration point.
- Redundant Discharge System
- To manage the collected water, Jacob installed the TripleSafe Sump Pump System. This system provides three layers of protection:
- Pump 1: A high-performance 1/3 HP pump for everyday use.
- Pump 2: A 1/2 HP high-volume pump that kicks in during extreme weather.
- Pump 3: The UltraSafe battery backup pump, ensuring operation during power outages.
Concrete Stabilization
The team addressed the exterior "Before" state by injecting PolyLevel®—a lightweight, durable polyurethane foam—beneath the sunken slabs to lift them back to their original position. To finish, NexusPro joint sealant was applied to provide a long-lasting, UV-resistant seal against moisture and debris.
Results & Impact
The "Radically Better" after-effect was immediate. The East Moline basement transitioned from a "part-time fish tank" to a bone-dry, conditioned space. By combining Andrew’s strategic design with Jacob’s precision in the field, MidAmerica Basement Systems successfully:
- Eliminated basement humidity and standing water.
- Restored the safety and curb appeal of the concrete surfaces.
- Increased the overall market value and structural longevity of the home
