For more than 30 years, we’ve provided quality patented products to leave our customers with permanent warrantied solutions underfoot.

Helical Anchors & Tiebacks for Residential & Commercial Foundation Repair

To stabilize Iowa and Illinois foundations, we typically use helical anchors, which are often referred to as tiebacks. These provide lateral stability to foundation walls and retaining walls with unbalanced pressures from the surrounding soils. Helical anchors can be installed with a variety of equipment, including hand-held equipment, mini-excavators, skid steers, backhoes, trackhoes, or crane-supported rigs. That versatility of installation, paired with the system’s ability to be immediately loaded and tested, makes helical anchor systems convenient and economical solutions for both residential and commercial foundation stabilization projects.

Design and Advantages

Often homeowners are under the impression that helical piles, screw piles, helical piers, helical anchors, helix piers, and helix anchors are all synonymous terms for the same product, but each is slightly different. For example, “pier” usually refers to a helical foundation system loaded using axial compression, while the term "anchor" typically references systems loaded using axial tension.

A helical anchor system is comprised of a steel foundation system with one central shaft that has one or more helix-shaped bearing plates (commonly referred to as blades) welded to the lead section. To install them, a helical anchor must be “screwed” into the ground with the application of torque, all the way past the foundation and into competent load-bearing soils. The upper portion of the product is attached to your home’s footing to hold it in place, shifting some of the weight of your home off of the foundation and onto the anchors. Their design makes them easy to install but difficult to move, which is exactly what’s needed to ensure stability for years to come
