Structural Wall Stabilization & Earth Anchor Installation
Challenge
A homeowner in Van Orin contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems after noticing horizontal cracking and inward bowing along their basement foundation wall. Saturated clay soils surrounding the home were exerting massive lateral hydrostatic pressure, pushing the masonry beyond its structural yield point. Left unchecked, the bowing wall risked catastrophic failure, compromise of the floor framing above, and massive structural loss. The homeowner required an immediate, permanent engineering fix to secure the foundation.
Solution
Under Ian Carnithan's on-site leadership, the Van Orin project was successfully completed on schedule and within budget. The system designed by Jamie Cox completely neutralized external soil pressures, permanently stabilizing the foundation wall and preserving the home's structural integrity and resale value.
