Photo Album: Bowing Foundation is Straightened and Stabilized in Dubuque, IA
Marilyn was having concerns about her foundation. It had started to bow, causing the block foundation to shift, allowing for water to seep in during heavy rains. She contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems to have her foundation inspected. Joe had offered her the solution of PowerBraces to permanently stabilize the walls. He also suggested excavating the dirt around the foundation to release pressure off the bowing wall and seal it with an asphalt damp proofing sealant. The sealant will help reduce water seepage, and will allow for a more effective solution to having the PowerBraces reverse the inward bow in the foundation. Marilyn has a stable foundation once again.
Removing Dirt
Crewmen begin excavating the dirt from around the home, releasing the ground pressure on the foundation.
Straightening the Foundation
Extra support is applied to the walls to help the wall straightening act more effectively, while crewmen do some tuck pointing on areas of the foundation.
Damp Proofing Foundation
Asphalt damp proofing sealant is applied to the outside of the foundation to help reduce the seeping ground water.
Permanent Stabilization
PowerBraces stand strong and tall, exerting pressure against the wall to stabilize and help straighten the foundation.
As Good As New
Dirt is replaced and the home is stabilized once again.
