Radon Mitigation in Peoria, IL
Challenge
A homeowner in Peoria, IL, contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems after discovering radon levels in their home exceeded the EPA’s action level of 4 pCi/L. Understanding the significant health risks associated with long-term radon exposure, the homeowner sought a permanent, professional solution to secure their living environment.
Because this project required both technical design and precise physical execution, Scott Mohr took the lead in a dual role. Initially acting as the System Design Specialist, Scott performed a comprehensive site inspection to identify the radon entry points. His analytical approach allowed him to custom-design a system specifically tailored to the home's unique footprint.
Solution
Transitioning from the design phase to the installation phase, Scott returned as the Project Foreman to oversee the construction. This ensured that every detail discussed during the initial consultation was executed perfectly.
Key components of the project included:
Premium Radon Mitigation System: A high-suction, energy-efficient fan system designed to draw radon gas from beneath the foundation and vent it safely above the roofline.
Sub-Slab Depressurization: Scott and his crew utilized specialized equipment to create a vacuum effect under the home, neutralizing the pressure that allows radon to seep through the floor.
White-Glove Job Site Management: The team maintained a strictly organized workspace, ensuring that the home remained clean and "spick and span" throughout the entire installation process.
The project was a complete success. Post-installation testing confirmed that the radon levels were successfully mitigated to well under the 4 pCi/L threshold.
By having Scott Mohr manage the project from the first handshake to the final cleanup, the homeowner received a seamless experience characterized by high-level expertise and clear communication. The result is a safer, healthier home and total peace of mind for the family.
