Job Stories From Waterloo, IA
Rain Water Stopped With WaterGuard in Waterloo, IA

No one likes to spend their time cleaning up a wet basement. A homeowner in Waterloo, IA was having water getting into their basement every time it would rain. They would spend countless hours cleaning up the water and they knew that this was the last straw! They looked online to find an expert waterproofing company in their area and came across MidAmerica Basement Systems. A Design Specialist was able to come out to their home to give them a waterproofing estimate that would meet their needs and goals.

WaterGuard is a perimeter waterproofing system. It is designed to not sit within the dirt. It sits above so dirt, rocks, and sediment cannot block the system from being able to collect the water. As water enters into the basement, WaterGuard will be able to collect it through its special wall flange design. After it is collected within the system the water will flow through until it reaches the sump pump system to be pumped out of the basement. It is only installed around the perimeter so your basement can still be used for recreational or storage purposes. You will also never see the water!

A clean and dry basement means a lot to this homeowner in Waterloo, IA and we were more than happy to help them out! If you too would like to learn more about waterproofing or other services we can offer you, do not hesitate to reach out to MidAmerica Basement Systems. We would be more than happy to help you! Contact us today so we can set up an appointment with one of our knowledgable Design Specialist to come out to give you a free, no-obligation estimate!

Uneven Sidewalk Fixed With PolyLevel in Waterloo, IA

Cracked sidewalks lead to tripping hazards and that is the last thing any homeowner wants to deal with. A homeowner in Waterloo, IA started to notice their sidewalk to lean slightly a different way than the rest of the concrete slab, leaving it a hazard each time walking up to the home. It was time to have expert advice on the issue. The homeowner contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems and we were more than happy to help!

PolyLevel was the answer to fix the homeowner's sidewalk. It will fill the void underneath the sidewalk and lift it back up to its original state. It is injected through a dime size hole and compresses the soil beneath it as it lifts back up creating a stable base in areas where the fill soil is poorly compacted. It expands in a very controlled way and will create no disturbance to the concrete. It is waterproof and will not wash out. It also does not shrink or degrade from excessive heat. Leaving your sidewalk or driveway in a great condition.

The sidewalk is once again back and leveled out with no tripping hazards to be found thanks to the MidAmerica Basement Systems Team. If you too are looking to have your concrete leveled or looking to learn more about PolyLevel do not hesitate to reach out to MidAmerica Basement Systems. We would be more than happy to send out a Design Specialist to come to give you a free, no-obligation estimate. Contact us today!

Damp, Smelly Basement Floor To Clean in Waterloo, IA

A homeowner in Waterloo, IA was having water coming into their basement. It was coming in around the perimeter of the basement through small cracks in the foundation walls. It was leaving the floor smelly, damp, and a big mess to be cleaned up! It was time for the issue to be fixed once and for all. They contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems and Design Specialist, Wes was able to come out to give them the best recommendation possible that would meet their goals. He recommended a full perimeter waterproofing system to keep water out of the basement. This would include a TripleSafe Sump Pump System, WaterGuard, and CleanSpace.

Having WaterGuard installed within the homeowner's home will fix their water issue! Water can get in around the perimeter of the basement, with the help of WaterGuard it will stop the water right in its tracks. It is an effective and reliable way to solve wet basement problems permanently. It is a piping system that is installed around the perimeter and will collect water by intercepting it as it comes into the home. It will then drain the water away safely and unseen away to be pumped out, leaving the basement waterfree!

Having the system installed within the homeowner's home will allow them to go back to using their basement for storage or recreational purposes without the worry of water coming back into the space! If you too are looking to have your basement waterproofed, do not hesitate to reach out to MidAmerica Basement Systems. When left untreated, mold feeds off the moisture that seeps into the dark area. Installing CleanSpace, WaterGuard, and a SuperSump can help deplete the opportunity for mold to grow. CleanSpace has a special infused material that prevents the growth of mold, while sealing off leaking walls from the rest of the basement. Once moisture seeps in, WaterGuard helps collect the water and direct it to the SuperSump. The SuperSump properly disposes of the moisture, leaving the basement dry, preventing mold to grow.

SuperSump and UltraSump Keep Basement Dry in Waterloo, IA

William was having concerns about his basement drain. Every time it rained, water would almost backup in the drain, posing threat to his basement. He contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems to have a sump pump installed. It was suggested that he have his drain sealed, preventing any water from backing up in it, and installed a SuperSump with a UltraSump back-up system. With the UltraSump, William will never have to worry about a flooding basement during power outages.

Cracked Foundation Gets Fixed in Waterloo

After living in their home for two years, Mallory and Ryan R. of Waterloo, IA noticed that "the tiny crack in their basement" had turned into something much worse. Additionally, the walls were bowing and water was getting in. They decided to call the experts at MidAmerica Basement Systems.

Soon, design specialist Kiel Marks came out to the property to investigate the foundation and water intrusion issues. A custom plan was created for the customers to stabilize the walls and waterproof the basement. Foreman Justin Bailey would be on the job.

The walls were stabilized using PowerBraces. Additionally, a new sump pump and discharge line were installed. Now the basement looks great, and no longer has water issues. Additionally, the foundation has been stabilized. The homeowner sleeps easy at night.

Foreman Justin Bailey and his team installed the carbon fiber material to stabilize the wall. CarbonArmor, a flexible product that is ten times stronger than steel the north and east walls. Now, the homeowner has peace of mind that the foundation is sturdy again.

Floor Drain Assistance in Waterloo, IA

Roger H. was having some water issues, particularly with his floor drain during strong rain storms. He decided to call the experts at MidAmerica Basement Systems for a free in-home estimate.

Kiel Marks was the design specialist who was sent to the home to give the estimate. Kiel decided the best solution for this particular situation was to install a SuperSump and drainage material. The drainage material connects from the floor drain to the SuperSump. The SuperSump will be able to pump all the water up, out, and safely away from the home.

Roger H. is very happy to no longer have to worry about his floor drain overflowing. He loved the work done by MidAmerica Basement Systems and would recommend them to anyone with basement water problems.

Egress Window Installation in Waterloo Home

Robert was interested in creating a legal living space in his basement. He had used MidAmerica Basement Systems before so he decided to give them a call for a free estimate.

Soon after giving them a call, an appointment was set up for Mac McDaniel to come evaluate the basement. Mac decided the best solution for what Robert wanted was to install an egress window into his basement. The egress window is a secondary escape route in case of an emergency, but it also looks nice and let’s light into the space.

Robert has been very happy with all the work MidAmerica Basement Systems has done, past and present. He can now have a bedroom in the basement to open up more space in his home.

We have a previously repaired poured concrete foundation crack on a vertical wall, which was fixed with an epoxy injection somewhere around 10 years ago, that has reopened to a hairline fracture. It shows some signs of moisture, but not enough to make the floor wet. The crack starts on the bottom of the wall, next to the floor of the foundation, and runs vertically to the top of the foundation wall, approximately 3 feet. There are no signs of bowing or other cracks on the exposed portion of the wall in either direction. A new sump pit, pump, and backup pump was put in a bit over 3 years ago in a different section of the basement, so I don't believe we have any current water issues around the foundation. What methods of repair would you use for something like this? What kind of warranty would this work carry and would it be transferable to a new owner? Is it possible to get an idea of what a repair such as this would run prior to having a formal estimate drawn up?

After heavy rain we get two pools of water that come in on different sides of the house. We have cleaned gutters and thought of a french drain outside of the house but don't think that is the proper fix. We have one drain in our basement and all the water runs to that but this last storm we had a lot more water even in the one room that is always dry. We wold like to see what our options and what the cost would be to finally have a dry basement.
