In Peoria, IL, a homeowner was facing a growing safety concern: a failing egress well. The existing structure was crumbling and visually compromised, creating significant anxiety for the family. An egress well is a critical safety feature, but when the foundation around it begins to fail, it shifts from a life-saving exit to a structural liability. Staring out of a basement window at a collapsing well is never a reassuring sight for any property owner.
Mike Chezum, our System Design Specialist, arrived on-site to perform a comprehensive evaluation. Mike identified the specific points of failure in the old well and designed a replacement plan that prioritized both structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. His goal was to move the homeowner from a state of worry to a state of total security.
Once the plan was green-lit, Foreman Jacob Quinn and his production crew took over the transformation. The team focused on a clean, robust installation process:
Removal & Excavation: The crew carefully extracted the old, vulnerable structure without disturbing the surrounding foundation.
System Reinforcement: Jacob ensured the new egress well was seated on a robust foundation feature, meeting all modern safety requirements and local building codes.
Final Grading: The area was meticulously finished to ensure proper drainage away from the new unit.
The results, as seen in the project photos, are night and day. What was once a crumbling, compromised structure is now a robust, high-quality egress well that enhances the home’s value and safety.
By replacing the "vulnerable" with the "sturdy," Mike and Jacob provided the homeowner with more than just a new window well—they provided peace of mind for years to come. Peeking outside is now a pleasant experience, and the basement is once again a secure, code-compliant living space.
Tom and Jacqueline H. of Peoria, IL contacted design specialist Dan Garner at MidAmerica Basement Systems to have their drafty crawl space insulated. They were looking to increase the temperature of the house, decrease the cost of the energy bill, and trap unpleasant odors. Dan devised a system to help Tom and Jacqueline accomplish their goals using CleanSpace and SilverGlo. The project looks great!
Homeowner Sandy has lived in her home for the last 12 years however in the last two years she has been more concerned about the water in her basement. Shee was worried about the water leading to mold and she wanted to make sure that her home was protected. After meeting with a design specialist she knew that a full perimeter waterproofing system was needed in her home. A full perimeter WaterGuard System is used to channel the water out of the home. The new TripleSafe Sump Pump is a three-pump system that comes with a battery back up and a Waterwatch alarm. The battery back issue to keep the system running in case of power loss and the WaterWatch alarm to alert you in case that water in the pump gets too high.
Homeowner Sandy has lived in her home for the last 12 years. In the last two years, she has slowly noticed that her driveway and sidewalk started to sink and crack. She knew that this was a safety hazard and wanted to seek professional advice on how to advance on correcting the situation. She decided to contact MidAmerica Basement Systems to learn about the PolyLevel technology that is offered. PolyLevel is a foam that is pumped under the concrete slabs to help bring them back up. The PolyLvell fills the void under the slab that is causing the slab.
Homeowner Kelly has lived in her home for the last six months. She noticed the bowing walls and thought that it was best to get professional advice. The CarbonArmors are used to hold the wall so that it will not bow and the problem will not get worse.
