In Pekin, Illinois, a homeowner struggled with recurring snow, ice, and water pooling directly in front of their garage, creating hazardous conditions and threatening property aesthetics. Unsealed joints allowed surface runoff to seep beneath the concrete, eroding the supporting subgrade soil and causing the slab to settle below its proper grade.
To eliminate the pooling issue without messy concrete replacement, System Design Specialist Tim Rollet inspected the site and designed a targeted repair strategy using PolyLevel® Concrete Leveling and NexusPro® Joint Sealant through MidAmerica Basement Systems.
Foreman Justin Maddox and crew member Devin S. executed the restoration with precision. The team drilled small injection ports through the settled slab and injected high-density PolyLevel polyurethane foam into the subbase. As the geopolymer expanded, it filled subterranean voids, compacted loose supporting soil, and lifted the concrete back to a level plane to direct water away from the garage entrance.
Following the lift, Justin and Devin S. sealed all cracks and expansion joints with NexusPro Joint Sealant. This flexible, UV-resistant sealant creates a durable waterproof barrier that stops moisture from penetrating the subgrade and prevents future soil erosion. The crew patched the injection holes, leaving behind a safe, fully functional, and well-protected garage entrance.
From Dunlap, Rick and Carol B. wanted to clean up their dark crawl space so they got in touch with the professionals at MidAmerica Basement Systems. The team encapsulated the space with strong, bright and mold resistant CleanSpace. The team also kept the space dry by installing SmartSump pump system and now the homeowners have a clean, bright and dry crawl space!
In the cold winter months, it is common for pipes to freeze, causing sump systems to back-up and flood into your basement. With the proper discharge line and IceGuard, MidAmerica Basement Systems can provide the ease during the freezing months. IceGuard allows for water to be discharge from the home while preventing water from freezing during discharge.
Large settlement cracks had become an issue for Wynn’s driveway, stretching from one side to the other. He contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems to have his issue addressed. PolyLevel was injected under the slabs to lift and level them back to their original position, stabilizing the area and filling the voids. After PolyLevel, NexusPro Joint Sealant was applied to all areas of the cracks. NexusPro helps prevent future cracking and seals off the area from seeping water. When water enters the area, it allows for ground washouts and settlement, which cause the slabs to sink and cracks. NexusPro also has a strong, flexible bond that allows for movement between the cold and hot seasons.
Bill was having issues with a foundation leak repair, leaking once again only months after it was applied. He reached out to the experts at MidAmerica Basement Systems to have his repair checked and properly fixed. Due to the common sealant that was originally injected in the crack, it had dried and shrank, leaving the sealant to crack and break. The old sealant was replaced with FlexiSpan injections to properly adhere and seal the crack. FlexiSpan is a high-density polyurethane sealant that flexes and expands with the natural movement of the earth and foundation of the home, giving the permanent bond necessary for crack. FlexiSpan prevents the crack from worsening and seals the area from moisture and water seepage, leaving the basement dry.
