Before & After
In Polo, Illinois, uneven concrete slabs transformed a charming home courtyard into a dangerous tripping hazard. Unsealed joints had allowed rainwater to penetrate the subbase over time, washing away the underlying soil and causing the heavy concrete to sink unevenly.
To resolve the hazard without tearing up the flatwork, System Design Specialist Andrew Sagar evaluated the space and customized a targeted repair plan using PolyLevel® Concrete Leveling and NexusPro® Joint Sealant through MidAmerica Basement Systems.
Foreman Ricky Sigala and crew member Jaylen arrived on-site to execute the restoration. The team drilled dime-sized injection ports through the sunken slabs and pumped high-density PolyLevel foam into the underlying subgrade. As the geopolymer expanded, it filled empty void spaces, compacted loose supporting soil, and lifted the heavy concrete slabs precisely back to a level, stable plane.
Once alignment was restored, Ricky and Jaylen sealed all joints and cracks using NexusPro Joint Sealant. This durable, UV-resistant sealant prevents future rainwater from washing away the supporting soil beneath the courtyard. After patching the small injection ports, the crew left behind a smooth, safe, and beautifully restored space ready for foot traffic.
