Concrete Repair in Waverly, IA
Challenge
In the beautiful community of Waverly, IA, a homeowner was facing a frustrating and potentially dangerous problem. Their driveway and sidewalks had become a series of uneven slabs, creating significant tripping hazards. Beyond the safety concerns, the shifting concrete was becoming a neighborhood eyesore and a source of family jokes—those teenagers can be tough critics! Weary of the "obstacle course" leading to their front door, the homeowner reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems for a permanent solution.
The project began with a comprehensive site evaluation by Sales Professional Shawn Conaway. As an expert in concrete soil dynamics, Shawn meticulously inspected the property to identify the root cause of the settlement. He determined that soil erosion and compaction beneath the slabs had caused the driveway and walkway to sink unevenly. To address both the aesthetic and structural issues, Shawn designed a specialized plan utilizing a combination of high-density polymers and professional-grade sealants to restore the concrete's integrity.
Solution
Once the design was finalized, Foreman Justin Maddox and his production crew arrived to execute the restoration. The team began by utilizing PolyLevel®, a high-strength polyurethane foam. Justin’s team injected the foam through small, pea-sized holes drilled strategically into the concrete. As the foam expanded, it filled the voids beneath the slabs, lifting them back to their original, level position with surgical precision.
To ensure the longevity of the repair, the team then applied NexusPro® Joint Sealant. This durable sealant was used to fill cracks and joints, creating a waterproof barrier that prevents future soil erosion—much like applying a protective layer of SPF to the driveway to prevent premature aging and weather damage.
