PolyLevel Deck Restoration by Justin Maddox Jr. and Brantly in Dubuque
Challenge
The primary obstacle was dealing with the unpredictable soil erosion that had occurred beneath the heavy concrete slab. Over time, weight and environmental factors washed away the necessary support, causing the base to tilt and sink. This uneven settling put undue stress on the overhead deck structure and created a major safety concern for anyone using the outdoor space. Additionally, open cracks and unsealed joints left the entire area vulnerable to moisture infiltration, which would only accelerate the erosion and cracking if left unaddressed.
Solution
The team at MidAmerica Basement Systems sent out foreman Justin Maddox Jr. and his crew member Brantley to execute a precise, lasting repair. The team began by utilizing the advanced PolyLevel system, drilling small, unobtrusive holes into the settled slab. They injected high-strength polyurethane foam beneath the concrete, which expanded rapidly to fill the void and gently lift the base back to its original, level position. Once the structural stability was restored, Justin and Brantley meticulously applied NexusPro Joint Sealant to all open cracks and joints, completely blocking out water and securing the deck for years to come.
