PolyLevel® Foam Injection Strategy for Speer Residence
Challenge
A property owner in Speer reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems after sudden soil settling caused their concrete walkway and entrance pads to sink unevenly. Torrents of rainwater runoff had silently washed away fine dirt particles from beneath the slabs, creating hollow subterranean caverns. Deprived of base support, the multi-ton concrete slabs snapped along expansion joints and dropped nearly three inches, creating severe trip hazards directly outside the entryway. Determined to avoid the mess, extended cure times, and heavy machinery required for traditional concrete demolition, the client sought a fast, trenchless restoration technique.
Solution
To lift the heavy concrete and permanently fill the underlying underground caverns, our specialist custom-designed a targeted PolyLevel® injection procedure. Technicians will drill tiny, dime-sized ports through the sunken concrete before injecting expanding, high-density structural polyurethane foam directly into the sub-base voids. As the hydrophobic compound expands, it packs surrounding loose soil, fills all hidden pockets, and generates upward lifting force to raise the slabs back to a perfect, flush alignment with surrounding structures. To complete the defense, the injection ports are sealed with color-matched grout, and open control joints are capped with flexible joint sealant to lock out future water infiltration.
