Foam Injection Proposal for German Valley Residence
Challenge
A German Valley homeowner contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems after noticing their concrete driveway section and walkway slabs had settled unevenly. Rainwater runoff had washed away fine soil beneath the surface over time, leaving hollow pockets that could no longer support the weight of the concrete. The unsupported slabs tipped and sank below adjacent sections, creating sharp, dangerous trip hazards. Wanting to avoid the noise, high costs, and yard damage associated with tearing out and re-pouring new concrete, the owner requested a non-invasive lifting proposal.
Solution
To lift the concrete and permanently re-establish a solid foundation beneath the slabs, our design specialist engineered a targeted structural foam injection solution. Small access ports are drilled directly through the sunken concrete to reach the underlying voids. An expanding, high-density foam material is injected into the pockets beneath the slab, where it expands to fill empty space, consolidate loose subsoil, and raise the concrete back into alignment with surrounding surfaces. Once elevated, the access points are patched, and the joints are sealed to keep future moisture from washing away the soil base.
