Foam Stabilization Blueprint for Lyndon Residence
Challenge
A homeowner in Lyndon contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems after noticing their front entrance walkway and connecting patio slabs had dropped significantly out of alignment. Unmanaged water runoff from roof downspouts had eroded the sub-grade soil, creating empty caverns beneath the concrete. Unsupported, the heavy slabs cracked along control joints and sank nearly two inches, forming a hazardous offset right at the main entryway. Wanting to avoid the mess, disruption, and heavy expense of tearing out and re-pouring new concrete, the owner requested a non-destructive repair option.
Solution
To lift the slabs back to their original elevation and reinforce the weak soil beneath, our specialist designed a targeted structural foam injection plan. Small access points will be placed through the settled concrete to inject an expanding, high-density foam compound directly into the underlying void space. As the material expands, it fills all subterranean gaps, compresses loose base soils, and exerts strong upward force to raise the slabs back flush with surrounding surfaces. Once elevated, the access points are patched to match, and open seams are sealed to prevent future water runoff from washing away the soil foundation.
