The residential structure in East Moline, IL was suffering from chronic hydrostatic pressure, resulting in active groundwater seepage and elevated relative humidity that rendered the basement unusable. System Design Specialist Jamie Cox diagnosed the structural breach points and engineered a comprehensive sub-grade management solution to stabilize the environment for future storage and bathroom installation.
Foreman Jacob Oetzman and technician Antonio executed the technical remediation, installing the WaterGuard® sub-floor drainage system along the perimeter footing to intercept water table migration. This flow was directed into a TripleSafe™ sump pump system, utilizing a three-pump configuration to guarantee continuous discharge even during peak flow or power failures. Finally, a CleanSpace® vapor barrier was mechanically fastened to the foundation walls to block vapor transmission and redirect wall seepage into the drainage channel. This multi-tiered intervention successfully mitigated the moisture dynamics, transforming a compromised, high-humidity space into a dry, structurally stabilized environment ready for build-out.
Beneath this East Moline home, a moisture-prone crawl space had led to problems including dampness and unneeded humidity, a challenging environment evaluated by System Design Specialist Jamie Cox and completely transformed by Foreman Jacob Schultz and his crew members Colby and Jeremiah. In the before photo, notice signs of high humidity and inadequate sealing, which our team resolved by installing a series of high-performance crawl space products starting with TerraBlock™ insulation and a heavy-duty CleanSpace® vapor barrier to enhance thermal resistance, cushion the floors, and completely block out earth moisture. To handle any trapped water, we laid down CleanSpace® Drainage Matting to efficiently direct excess moisture toward the high-performance SmartSump™ sump pump system before adding a SaniDry™ Sedona dehumidifier for industry-leading humidity management and odor reduction. As the after photo shows, the crawl space is now a bright, dry, and fully protected area, successfully enhancing whole-home comfort, improving indoor air quality, and safeguarding the entire structural integrity of the home.
Tom lives in an older home and has never had too many issues with a leaking basement. He mentioned how that maybe once, twice at the most, there was small seepage during the year. After the last heavy rainfall, with accumulations reaching more than 5 inches, his basement became a swimming pool. He reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems to have his basement inspected. CleanSpace Liner was installed along the foundation walls to help reduce humidity levels, and prevent water from seeping in through the walls. WaterGuard was then installed along the perimeter of the basement to collect any seeping wall and floor water, preventing it from surfacing. Once water is collected, and is then redirected to a SuperSump and UltraSump systems to be properly discharged from the basement.
